Hello and Welcome to The VA Executive!
As the first blog post on my website, I thought I would make it an introduction to myself and to the business (if you haven't already read the About Me page), because chances are that if you're reading this, then you'd like to learn more about myself, VA Executive and what I have to offer or maybe you're a fellow VA - either way, hello!
(Apologies for the lengthy post)
My name is Lisa and I live in the South East of Melbourne, Australia and I'd like to share a bit about myself and why I started The VA Executive.
Growing up as the eldest of 4 children to my loving parents, my mum was a homemaker (or stay at home mum) and my dad owned and ran a successful Earthmoving excavation business, so I experienced the two different worlds of family life and business life.
As I grew older, I appreciated everything more, as you do, and I became I'm a good mix of characteristics, personality and skills from both my mum and dad.
I'm very much a 'homemaker' at heart and one day I'll have a family of my own to take care of and in the meantime I am also very much an entrepreneur with good work ethic and business knowledge from my dad.
Now, I'm not going to write a whole post about my life, but I think it's important to note certain things and what makes me me.
When I think back to leaving school, I know that I have accomplished so much more than I thought I would.
I completed year 11 (no year 12 for me) and went to university and did a 2 year double diploma in 'Resort Management and Beauty Therapy'. Basically a business and hospitality course and a beautician course mixed in together at two different schools.
Honestly, I went on to do this course without really knowing at 17 what I wanted to do and this was a chance to get out into life and get out of school!
But looking back, it definitely helped boost my skills.
After the course, I did do work experience at a 5 star day spa near the city for 6 months, but I then went on to work for my dad full time at his earthmoving business and I ended up being there for 5.5 years!
So, it was a completely different industry to what I had learnt, but it was my first real job and where I started to learn all my administration, accounting, receptionist, website/social media and customer service skills. We all start somewhere!
From there I went on to a couple other long term jobs of where I had similar roles as above in industries such as construction, architecture, electrical and the most current industry being solar.
Over the next few years, I went on to do various certificates/diplomas and short courses in different modalities such as aromatherapy, health and nutrition, interior design, crystal healing, writing, book keeping and meditation (I'm certified too!). You could say that I've always loved to learn.
Although there have been many times where I thought to myself how these courses were probably pointless, they, of course, were not. I am always drawing upon my skills and I think it gives me broad knowledge of different industries/niches.
So, Why Did I Start a VA Business?
Okay, that's enough about me, let's talk biz!
With all my years of experience and learnt knowledge, I found that I really like the back end of a business and that I'm very analytically minded, so I like problem solving, processing paperwork, doing administration and getting a business set up.
As normal human beings, we all have things that we don't really like doing as much as other things in life and I understand that there are many business owners who would be more productive if they could delegate some tasks/projects to someone like me (hello!) to take care of and for them to have more freedom for other areas of the business or their personal life.
With a business mind stemming from my dad, I have always dreamt of owning my own company and working 'for myself', so over the years I have tried a few different ventures which have mostly been online such as jewellery, clothing, meditation, workshops, drop shipping and more.
I've had success and I've had failure and both are okay!
Introducing The VA Executive
The Virtual Assistant Executive was brought to life with the aim of assisting small business owners and start up companies by working alongside them to help their company run with ease and flow.
Sometimes we just need a helping hand to keep things moving along nicely and I'm here to lend that hand. I would be pleased to be your go-to woman for all your biz needs!
